Let's be honest, freshly painted nails can cheer up even the darkest of moods. You know, it might be the start of your eight hour shift after 3 hours sleep the night before, but your hot pink nails do perfectly match your work shirt! (tbh mood already brightened by working for a shop whose company colour is hot pink.) It's the little things in life that can make a bad day turn out to be good, and freshly painted nails are one of those things.
BUT are they not such a pain??? I'm not talking about the finished product, I'm talking about the process. Despite being an art student, painting nails is not my strong point (very different to painting a canvas) particularly on my right hand. And then there's thee drying. Probably hours of my life have been spent sitting with my hands aloft in hope that my nails will dry smudge free, and then hours more time has been spent crying after my seemingly dry nails smudge as I pull on my dm's. It's a hard knock life, and I'm only talking about painting nails!
I look with envy on those with perfectly manicured nails, those who can paint their nails stress free at home. Just like any addict I'm not going to give up on something I love just because of the emotional roller-coaster I must endure. At the end of the day an instagram post of my bright orange nails against my detox juice is worth it's weight in likes. Just don't look at my other hand because those nails weren't so pretty.
